Culturally diverse children's books have the force to inspire us all. Books like Lebron James' book, "I Promise" (illustrated by Nina Mata), or my personal favorite, Phoebe Gilman's "Something for Nothing," are expressions of humanity.
One such book, Kaygan's Adventure: Save Silly Milly, written by Dr. Darcele Cole-Robinson, gives the readers a glimpse into Kaygans' world. We meet this little girl at the park as she plays with her beloved dog, Milly. Dr. Cole-Robinson describes how Kaygan deals with losing her treasured "gold" furry family member. This read-out-loud doesn't capture the playful illustrations by artist Solease M Barner. Her drawings in this book evoke the child Inside of all of us.
So whether you are looking for a distraction during Super Bowl Sunday or know what the weather is like in Troy, Michigan, and decided to hibernate, push play, sit back to enjoy this moment.
