If you are anything like me, you have a little earworm buzzing, "SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER"! Let us put aside our excitement and consider summer learning loss. Reading Wrangler students will maintain the learning structure by continuing reading, writing, and arithmetic in the upcoming months.
Luckily, I have my memento from my trip to the Land of Enchantment. I was given a coloring book at the Pueblo of Jemez, the charming town nestled among the mountains between Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
The coloring book includes illustrations by artists from New Mexico. Each drawing is accompanied by poetry that captures the state's magic, making it perfect for young readers who are just beginning to explore the wonders of literature.
Feel free to share this with the emergent reader and use it when your kids are out of school.
